Microsoft SmartScreen shows this screen for any new app that is not yet code-signed and has not built up download reputation with Microsoft. It is not the result of a scan and it is not a malware detection — it simply means Windows hasn't seen this installer enough times to recognize it. Every new indie app goes through this phase; SideSense is early and not code-signed yet, so right now that includes us. Two clicks get you through:

We would rather explain this honestly than pretend it isn't there. If you want to double-check the file first, scan it with Windows Defender or upload it to VirusTotal — we encourage it. Once installed, updates apply inside the app and you will not see this screen again. When SideSense ships code-signed builds, this section goes away.

The honest answers.
Is the blue SmartScreen warning a virus alert?
No. SmartScreen did not scan the file and find something bad. It is a reputation check: Windows keeps a list of apps it has seen signed and downloaded many times, and anything outside that list gets the warning. A brand-new app from a small team starts with zero reputation, so the screen appears. Your antivirus still scans the installer as normal, and you are free to scan it yourself with Windows Defender or VirusTotal before running it.
Why doesn't SideSense have a code-signing certificate yet?
Certificates that remove the warning cost several hundred dollars a year and require an established company identity check. We are a small team shipping early, and we chose to spend that time and money on the product first. When SideSense buys a certificate, the warning goes away and this section disappears from the page.
Who actually builds SideSense?
SideSense is built by the team behind KGP Talkie, the machine learning education channel run by Laxmi Kant Tiwari. The channel has taught Python, data science, and ML to hundreds of thousands of students on YouTube for years, under the same public name. You can verify the maker before you run anything: the YouTube channel, kgptalkie.com, and the About page on this site all point at the same real person.
Will I see the warning again after installing?
No. The warning belongs to the downloaded installer, not the app. Once installed, SideSense updates itself in-app, so you will not go through SmartScreen again for updates.
Does the installer need admin rights?
No. It installs per-user, without administrator rights, and finishes in about a minute. Your audio, transcripts, and local models stay on your PC.
