Exporting and erasing your data

Your data sits on two planes: session content on your machine, and a little account data with us. Here is how to export or erase each.

Where your data lives

Your session content, transcripts, notes, and your question bank, is stored on your own machine, never on a SideSense server. The only data we hold is the account information that runs the service: your name, email, and plan. The full breakdown is on the privacy page.

Session content: local, on your device
Account data: name, email, plan, held by us
You control both, in different places

Export or erase your session data

Open Settings to export your transcripts, notes, and question bank to a file you keep, or to erase them from your machine. Because this data is local, erasing it removes it for good, so export first if you might want it later. This is also how you carry your data to a new PC.

Export to a file for backup or transfer
Erase local session data whenever you want
Nothing to request from us: it is already yours

Account data and deletion

You can request a copy of the account data we hold, ask us to correct it, or delete your account. Deleting your account removes your profile and account records from our systems; billing records we are legally required to keep are retained only as long as the law requires. To start, use the account controls in the app or email hello@sidesense.app.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

How do I export my data?

Open Settings and use the export option to save your transcripts, notes, and question bank from your machine. Since this data is already local, you are exporting from your own device, not downloading it from us.

How do I erase everything?

Erase your session data from inside the app, which clears it from your machine. To remove the account data we hold (name, email, plan), delete your account. That covers both planes.

Do you keep a backup of my sessions?

No. Your transcripts, notes, and question bank live on your machine, not our servers, so there is no server-side copy to back up or restore. Keep your own export if you want a backup.

Your data, on your terms.

Export it, erase it, or delete your account whenever you choose.
